“Meeting neighbors at town's diner with whom you can laugh, cry, and spend life with.
On cold days and dark nights, it is the happiness that there is a shop near you which shines light to your heart.”

“A shop for all home cooking,” Yama Shokudo is not decidedly extravagance, nor high price. The one appropriate to that name is the head chef Tomoo Yamaya. He offers his work with kindness to give the best ingredients, which he has checked with his own eyes and tongue, diligently visiting farmers, marketplaces, and shops in every area checking seasonal items. He hides brilliant surprises and secret enjoyment into well known family cooking. He might be cooking while enjoying the look of smiling faces of regular customers saying, “Wow. That is delicious, isn’t it?”

And the service manager, Michie Yazawa, speaks about the scenery of the sea and mountains of all areas of Japan, the farmers, and the food whenever there is a spare moment. The sight of grape vineyards float in his eyes, and the days are filled with thoughts of the marriage of the heart and tongue with wine. She visited liquor shop's owners in Sanriku after the Great Tohoku Earthquake Disaster, sheding tears for their loss of their hard work and strength. She looked upon the rural landscape of golden stalks of rice swaying in the wind brought back with hard work from the loss by water. The dishes which go with those ingredients were also made by local porcelain craftsmen such that the intimate handiwork can be seen to match the cuisine.

There is no unnecessary lip service or excess service. They might not accept tens of thousands of people.
Nevertheless, by visiting food, people, and memories by sharing stories with people, one can calmly enjoy a warm moment. At this town’s diner is the love of one’s hometown, the healing of travelers, the feeling of the desire to return again.
