Kensuke SHIKANO : alohaloco cycle
“Bicycles take you into your neighborhood, adding splashes of color to your daily life.”
Kensuke SHIKANO is the CEO, bicycle designer and producer of the bicycle brand alohaloco, which is named after the Hawaiian tradition of incorporating nature into one’s lifestyle. His family’s business was a bicycle wholesaler in Fukushima Prefecture. However, after graduating from college, he started working as an exchange cambist. “While working hard in the office, I couldn’t escape the feeling of longing to be back in the bicycle shop with my bike. ” After that, he worked as a journalist for a bicycle industry magazine, for a distributer, a manufacturer, and then he opened alohaloco cycle.
The locals know that Kensuke rides around Morishita and Kiyosumi-Shirakawa areas and he knows all the shops and restaurants too. When a new shop opens, it’s like his old journalistic instincts kick back in and he’s quick to try their services and ‘interview’ them! If you’d like to rent a bike at his place, don’t hesitate to ask him for local recommendations of where to go and what to eat!
